Yet the work that tests professional judgment most often begins when something does not follow the expected path.

A missing document, an unavailable participant, a delayed result, an incomplete handoff, an unfamiliar request or a system outage can interrupt even a well-designed workflow. These situations are not always dramatic, but they can consume time, create avoidable rework and expose weaknesses in how teams communicate.

The ability to manage such situations—without bypassing controls or creating unnecessary escalation—is a valuable career skill.
